Father's Day Weekend

Lindsay learned how to blow bubbles.

We enjoyed lunch from KFC (Bill's Father's Day pick) at the park before jumping in the community pool, which we just joined as members.

The girls snuggling with daddy after a long day at the park and swimming.

We watched Ella's "last class" dance performance.

And it looks like Lindsay is not too far behind as she tried out the ballet bar between Ella's costume changes.

Check out the form!

We also enjoyed a brief visit from Uncle Tom (Bill's uncle).

A day at the park, peese!

I am not sure how we did it, but Lindsay now ends every request with "peese" (complete with the sign language for the word of rubbing her tummy). I swear I only showed her two or three times before she did it on her own. After that the ongoing positive attention she has received each time she uses the word just keeps the good manners moving along. The thing that stuns us even more is that she actually GETS what she is saying. It use to be that it was only "cacker, peese" (cracker) as if the two words went together. Now it is, "ca-doe, peese" (avocado). "Sfing, peese" (swing). And the other morning, the first thing out of her mouth after she gave me a big hug was, "oh, peese" (imagine hand rubbing her tummy as her lips are puckered to communicate to her mommy and daddy that she was ready for her morning dose of Cheerios).

The More the Merrier

The house was full again this past weekend with a visit from Grandma Connie and Grandpa John.

A picnic in the park...just before the sprinkers turned on.

Grandma Connie and Lindsay "bonding" over shared oatmeal.

We had to wrestle Grandpa John off the bike so Ella could practice riding without training wheels.

Remind us of this innocence

Ella currently has a sweet innocence about her that reminds us what being a kid is all about. She is happiest when she is swinging, swimming, dancing, playing with her sister or reading a book. However, we get a glimpse every now and then (they seem to be happening more frequently these days) of what the teen years may have in store for us. Her quick wit, sassy remarks or exasperated looks remind us to treasure the sweet 6 year old innocence while it lasts.

Anything sweeter?

It's In Her Genes

Taking after her late Great Grandpa Campbell and present (sometimes) Uncle Erik, Lindsay learned how to "hut-hut-hike" and throw a football this Memorial Day.

Win-Win-Win

Win #1: Lindsay survived (was unfazed by) her first weekend without her parents as she was doted on my her grandparents, Gamma BoBo and Poppi.

Win #2: Gamma BoBo and Poppi got to dote on Lindsay all weekend...with no one else around!

Win #3: Mommy and Daddy enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing, peaceful, romantic and much-needed weekend in a seculed cottage in Volcano, California (population 102).
